Swiss brand Bico celebrates its 150th birthday

BICO AG, Hilding Anders’ Swiss subsidiary, celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. BICO is the market leader in the Swiss market and has been a success story for the Hilding Anders Group since its acquisition ten years ago.

“Bico is a very fine example of the ability of a company to constantly expand consumer confidence through dedicated employees, a well-considered strategy and excellent execution,” comments Gunnar Johansson, CEO of Hilding Anders.

Bico is based one hour south of Zürich in Schänis, has annual net sales of CHF 80 million, employs 130 people and produces 150,000 mattresses every year. “We are a true Swiss company,” says Bico’s Managing Director Martin Frutig. “The majority of our suppliers are still based in the country, and nine out of ten products are sold within the country,” he observes. “We are the undisputed market leader, and the introduction of innovations such as ClimaLuxe and AirPulse are further strengthening our position.” BICO was recently named one of the Most Trusted Brands in the country as part of a broad European consumer survey conducted by Reader’s Digest.

Bico is celebrating its anniversary with a host of different activities. The weekend of 28 May saw an Open House for all employees, customers and other business partners. Hilding Anders’ CEO Gunnar Johansson participated in the event.
