Hilding Original - highest rating in consumer test
2013-02-01 [Press release]
The Swedish consumer magazine, Råd & Rön, recently conducted a test of boxspring beds. The highest rating went to Hilding Original from bed and mattress producer Hilding Anders.
Råd & Rön tested eight medium-firm frame beds, i.e. mattresses with underlying wooden bases that surround and enclose several hundred small springs (pocket and/or bonnell springs). All of the beds tested retail for under 6,300 SEK (ca. €732).
The beds were judged on their supporting properties and durability. When all parameters were combined, Hilding Original came out on top. In addition to having the highest overall rating, Hilding Original received highest scores for elasticity – the ability to follow the body’s contours between pressure points – and support in a side-sleeping position. The results show that Hilding Original provides the best support, regardless of a sleeper’s weight and height.
The beds durability was tested by rolling a 140 kilo cylinder back and forth over the bed 30,000 times. The Hilding Original completed the durability test with zero damage to the bed, and the supporting properties remained almost the same as before the test.
Hilding Anders’ new construction technique, MLB – Multi Layer Bed, is an entirely new approach to building beds, where the focus is on pressure relief, comfort and the ability to follow the body’s contours. The construction includes a top layer of thick material that follows body contours, with a pocket spring system underneath. The pocket springs rest on a stabile slatted bed base. This construction sets Hilding beds apart from many traditionally built beds, which often have two spring systems on top of each other followed by a thin layer of foam on top.
